| Jangseong, located at the northwest of South Jeolla Province, is bordering with Gochang and Younggwang to the west, Hampyeong to the southwest, Gwangju to the southeast, Damyang to the east, Jeungeup to the north, and Sunchang to the northeast. It is 20 km long from east to west, 36 km from south to north. It has a land area equal to 518.5 square kilometers, mainly comprising 62.8% of forestland and 23.9% of farmland. It comprises 4.29% of the South Jeolla Province and is divided into 1 town and 10 subcounties. |

It has a high temperature and humidity oceanic climate in the summer and forms a basin constituted of group of mountains, having a lot of topographical rain.
Centering on Jangseong, the Honam Expressway and Honam Railway runs through, and National road No.1 extends to the Seoul-Mokpo. Also, Janseong performs a strategic logistics base center with Honam Integrated Freight Terminal, which functions as a comprehensive cargo terminal and inland container depot for the Honam region with all of the key cities within a 100 km distance. It spurs the exchange of goods among regions with logistics cost reductions and balanced regional development.
Jangseong has a national park renowned for the fantastic rocks, strange-looking stones, and colorful maple trees in fall. They center on Gobulchonglim Baekyangsa (temple) and Baekam Mountain, which is the essence of the Noryeong mountain range. |
